Anahit Tsitsikian

Anahit Tsitsikian, born on August 26, 1926, was a distinguished Armenian violinist and a prominent figure in the world of musicology. Her remarkable career spanned several decades, during which she toured over one hundred cities globally during the Soviet era, captivating audiences with her exceptional talent.

In addition to her performance career, Tsitsikian dedicated approximately forty years to teaching at the State Conservatory, where she inspired countless students. Her scholarly contributions were significant, as she authored more than three hundred articles and developed scenarios for various television and radio programs.

Tsitsikian was a pioneer in Armenian musicology, establishing a new branch focused on the history of performing arts. In the latter part of her life, she devoted herself to researching ancient music history, ultimately founding a new field of Armenian musical archaeology.

Her accolades include being named a Merited Artist of Armenia in nineteen sixty-seven, earning a PhD in Musical Science in nineteen seventy, and being appointed as a Professor of Music in nineteen eighty-two. Anahit Tsitsikian's legacy continues to influence the realms of music education and ethnomusicology.
