Archbishop Anastasios, born Anastasios Yannoulatos on November fourth, nineteen twenty-nine, was a prominent figure in the Eastern Orthodox Church and a dedicated scholar in religious studies. His journey began in Greece, where he became a respected university teacher and theologian, contributing significantly to the academic landscape.

In June nineteen ninety-two, Anastasios was elected as the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania, taking on the role of primate and Head of the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania. His leadership was marked by a commitment to revitalizing the church in a post-communist Albania, fostering unity and spiritual growth among the faithful.

Beyond his ecclesiastical duties, Anastasios was a Professor Emeritus at the National University of Athens and held the distinction of being an honorary member of the Academy of Athens. His influence extended internationally as he served as one of the presidents of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches and as the honorary president of the World Conference of Religions for Peace.
