Anders Samuelsen

Anders Samuelsen, born on August first, nineteen sixty-seven, is a notable figure in Danish politics, having served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from two thousand sixteen to two thousand nineteen. His political journey began in the late nineteen nineties with the Danish Social Liberal Party, where he was a member of the Folketing from nineteen ninety-eight to two thousand four.

In two thousand four, he represented Denmark in the European Parliament until two thousand seven. Following this, he became one of the founding members and the chief strategist of Ny Alliance, which was later rebranded as Liberal Alliance in two thousand eight. As the leader of Liberal Alliance from two thousand nine to two thousand nineteen, Samuelsen played a significant role in shaping centre-right politics in Denmark, particularly focusing on tax and economic policies.

During his tenure as foreign minister in Lars Løkke Rasmussen's third cabinet, he was instrumental in overseeing Denmark's contributions to the international coalition against the Islamic State in Syria and the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan. Additionally, he chaired the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from two thousand seventeen to two thousand eighteen.

After the Liberal Alliance faced a significant defeat in the two thousand nineteen Danish general election, resulting in the loss of his parliamentary seat, Samuelsen stepped down as party leader amid internal criticism. Since then, he has transitioned to the private sector, taking on executive roles in UV-technology companies based in Aarhus and within the UVH group.
