Andi Lila, born on February twelfth, nineteen eighty-six, is a distinguished former professional footballer from Albania, known for his role as a defensive midfielder. His versatility on the field was evident early in his career when he played as a full-back. Lila's journey in football began at his hometown club, Besa Kavajë, where he honed his skills before making a significant move to the Greek Super League with Iraklis.
After his stint in Greece, Lila returned to Besa Kavajë, later joining Tirana. During his time with Tirana, he achieved notable success, winning the Albanian Superliga in the two thousand eight to two thousand nine season and the Albanian Cup in two thousand ten to two thousand eleven. His career also included a significant period at PAS Giannina in Greece, along with a brief loan to the Italian Serie A side, Parma. Over his career, Lila made more than one hundred fifty appearances in Greece's top division.
On the international stage, Lila represented Albania across various age levels, including under-17, under-19, under-21, and the senior team, earning seventy caps from two thousand seven to two thousand seventeen. He was a key player in Albania's historic qualification for UEFA Euro two thousand sixteen, the nation's first appearance in a major tournament. Lila played a crucial role in the memorable one-nil victory against Romania during the group stage and was involved in significant qualifying matches, including Albania's first-ever win over Portugal in two thousand fourteen.
His career, however, was cut short due to injury, leading to his retirement from professional football in two thousand twenty while playing for Tirana. Lila's contributions to Albanian football, both at the club and international levels, have left a lasting legacy.
