André Ventura

André Ventura, born on January fifteenth, nineteen eighty-three, is a prominent figure in Portuguese politics, known for his role as the founder and leader of the far-right political party Chega. His political journey began with the Social Democratic Party (PSD), where he made a notable attempt for the Mayor of Loures in two thousand seventeen.

In April two thousand nineteen, Ventura established Chega, marking a significant shift in his political career. Just six months later, he was elected to the Assembly of the Republic during the October two thousand nineteen legislative election, solidifying his influence in Portuguese politics.

Ventura's ambitions extended to the presidency, where he ran in two thousand twenty-one, securing third place with eleven point nine percent of the votes. Under his leadership, Chega experienced remarkable growth, receiving eighteen point one percent of the vote in the two thousand twenty-four legislative election, which quadrupled its seat count to fifty.

In the subsequent two thousand twenty-five legislative election, Chega's support surged to twenty-two point eight percent, allowing the party to win sixty seats and surpass the Socialist Party, positioning Ventura as the leader of the opposition and head of the Opposition Shadow Cabinet.
