Andrea Jung

Andrea Jung, born on August twenty-eighth, nineteen fifty-nine, is a distinguished Canadian-American executive and linguist, renowned for her impactful leadership in the business and non-profit sectors. Based in New York City, she has made significant contributions to women's issues and empowerment throughout her career.

In April two thousand fourteen, Jung took the helm as president and CEO of Grameen America, a non-profit microfinance organization established by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus. Prior to this role, she made history as the first female CEO and chairman of Avon Products, Inc., a leading multi-level marketing company, serving from nineteen ninety-nine to two thousand twelve.

Jung's influence extended beyond Avon, as she became the first woman to chair both the Cosmetic, Toiletry & Fragrance Association and the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations. Her leadership of the Avon Foundation for Women earned her the prestigious Clinton Global Citizen Award in two thousand ten, recognizing her efforts to combat violence against women and address the breast cancer epidemic.

Under her guidance, the Avon Foundation for Women raised and awarded nearly one billion dollars to support health and empowerment initiatives, establishing itself as the largest women-focused corporate philanthropy globally. After stepping down as CEO, Jung continued to serve as chair of Avon's board of directors until the end of two thousand twelve and later as a senior advisor through April two thousand fourteen.
