Andrea Kékesy

Andrea Kékesy, born on September 17, 1926, in Budapest, was a remarkable Hungarian pair skater whose legacy in the world of figure skating is celebrated to this day. Her journey in the sport was marked by extraordinary achievements and a passion that inspired many.

Teaming up with her skating partner, Ede Király, Kékesy reached the pinnacle of her career in the late 1940s. Together, they captured the silver medal at the 1948 Winter Olympics, showcasing their exceptional talent on an international stage. Their partnership flourished as they went on to become the World champions in 1949 and secured the title of European champions twice, in 1948 and 1949.

Andrea's contributions to figure skating extended beyond her competitive successes. She was a symbol of grace and determination, embodying the spirit of the sport. Her legacy continued to inspire future generations of skaters long after her competitive days.

Sadly, Andrea Kékesy passed away in November 2024 at the age of ninety-eight, leaving behind a rich history in figure skating that will not be forgotten.
