Andrea Pollack, born on May eighth, nineteen sixty-one, in Schwerin, East Germany, emerged as a remarkable butterfly swimmer. A member of SC Dynamo Berlin, she made waves in the swimming world at a young age, capturing the attention of fans and competitors alike.

At just fifteen years old, Pollack showcased her extraordinary talent at the 1976 Summer Olympics held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There, she clinched two gold medals, triumphing in the individual 200 m butterfly and as part of the women's relay team in the 4×100 m medley. Additionally, she earned two silver medals, further solidifying her status as a top athlete.

Pollack continued to excel in her sport, winning a gold medal in the 4×100 m medley relay and a silver in the 100 m butterfly at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Her prowess was further highlighted in 1978 when she broke the world record in the women's 200 m butterfly on two occasions.

In 1998, Pollack, along with several former East German swimmers, bravely spoke out about the systematic doping practices they endured under the guidance of their coaches and physicians. Off the pool deck, she married Norbert Pinske, a cyclist, and their son, Michael Pinske, represented Germany as a judoka at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
