Andreas Isaksson

Andreas Isaksson, born on October 3, 1981, is a distinguished former Swedish professional footballer renowned for his role as a goalkeeper. His football journey commenced at Trelleborgs FF, where he showcased his talent before making a significant move to Juventus, where he spent two formative years.

After his stint in Italy, Isaksson returned to Sweden, achieving remarkable success with Djurgården, where he clinched two Allsvenskan titles. His career then took him to France, where he played for Rennes, before making a notable transfer to Manchester City in the Premier League for a fee of two million pounds. However, his time at City saw limited appearances as he navigated a competitive squad.

Following his tenure in England, Isaksson enjoyed four seasons in the Eredivisie with PSV, further solidifying his reputation. In 2012, he made a move to Turkey, joining Kasımpaşa on a free transfer. His journey came full circle when he returned to Djurgårdens IF in 2016, where he celebrated victory in the 2017–18 Svenska Cupen before announcing his retirement in 2018.

On the international stage, Isaksson earned an impressive 133 caps for the Sweden national team, placing him joint-third among the most capped players in the nation's history alongside Sebastian Larsson. His international career included participation in the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups, as well as multiple UEFA European Championships from 2004 to 2016.
