Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Andreas Linger

Andreas Linger, born on May thirty-first, nineteen eighty-one, is a distinguished former Austrian luger who made his mark in the sport starting in two thousand. Alongside his younger brother Wolfgang, Andreas began his journey in luge at a tender age, and by the time they were fourteen, they had already completed their first doubles run.

Throughout his illustrious career, Linger achieved remarkable success at the FIL World Luge Championships, securing five medals, including three golds in men's doubles in two thousand three, two thousand eleven, and two thousand twelve, as well as two bronzes in mixed team and men's doubles events in two thousand three and two thousand thirteen, respectively.

In addition to his World Championship accolades, Linger also excelled at the FIL European Luge Championships, where he earned seven medals: one gold in men's doubles in two thousand ten, three silvers in men's doubles and mixed team events in two thousand eight and two thousand ten, and three bronzes in men's doubles and mixed team events in two thousand four and two thousand fourteen.

The Linger brothers were crowned overall Luge World Cup men's doubles champions during the two thousand eleven to twelve season, achieving an impressive fifteen World Cup race victories. Their Olympic journey was equally remarkable, as they became two-time Olympic champions in the men's doubles event, triumphing at the two thousand six Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, and again at the two thousand ten Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Notably, their victory in two thousand six came despite Wolfgang having sustained a broken leg in a luge crash the previous year.

In two thousand ten, they successfully defended their gold medal against the formidable Latvian duo of Andris and Juris Šics, further solidifying their legacy in the sport of luge.
