Andres Tarand

Andres Tarand, born on January eleventh, nineteen forty, in Tallinn, is a distinguished Estonian geographer, climatologist, and politician. He served as the Prime Minister of Estonia from nineteen ninety-four to nineteen ninety-five and was a Member of the European Parliament for the Social Democratic Party from two thousand four to two thousand nine. His academic journey began at the University of Tartu, where he earned a degree in climatology in nineteen sixty, followed by a second degree in geography in nineteen seventy-three.

Andres Tarand is married to journalist Mari Tarand, who passed away in two thousand twenty. They have two sons: Indrek Tarand, a politician and journalist born in nineteen sixty-four, and Kaarel Tarand, a well-known journalist born in nineteen sixty-six. His family also includes his first cousin, the writer and politician Priit Aimla.
