Andrew Card

Andrew Hill Card Jr., born on May 10, 1947, is a prominent American politician and academic administrator. He is best known for his role as White House Chief of Staff under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2006, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the administration's policies and strategies, including leading the White House Iraq Group.

Before his tenure as Chief of Staff, Card served as the United States Secretary of Transportation under President George H. W. Bush from 1992 to 1993. His experience in government and transportation policy laid the groundwork for his later influential positions.

Card announced his resignation as Chief of Staff on March 28, 2006, with his departure taking effect on April 14, 2006. Following his time in the White House, he transitioned to academia, serving as the Acting Dean of the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University from 2011 to 2013.

In 2014, Card took on the role of president at Franklin Pierce University, where he led the institution until his retirement in the summer of 2016. His career reflects a commitment to public service and education, leaving a lasting impact on both the political and academic landscapes.
