Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Andrew Cuomo

Andrew Cuomo, born on December sixth, nineteen fifty-seven, is a prominent American lawyer and politician who served as the fifty-sixth governor of New York from two thousand eleven until his resignation in two thousand twenty-one. A member of the Democratic Party and the son of former governor Mario Cuomo, he has recently made headlines for running as an independent candidate in the two thousand twenty-five mayoral election in New York City.

Raised in Queens, Cuomo graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Arts and earned his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School. His political career began as the campaign manager for his father's gubernatorial bid in nineteen eighty-two. He later chaired the New York City Homeless Commission from nineteen ninety to nineteen ninety-three and served in the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development under President Bill Clinton from nineteen ninety-three to two thousand one.

Cuomo was elected New York attorney general in two thousand six after a previous unsuccessful attempt to secure the Democratic nomination for governor in two thousand two. He won the gubernatorial election in two thousand ten with over sixty percent of the vote and was re-elected in two thousand fourteen and two thousand eighteen. His administration was marked by significant legislation, including the legalization of same-sex marriage and recreational cannabis, as well as major infrastructure projects like the Second Avenue Subway and the reconstruction of LaGuardia Airport.

Despite initial praise for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cuomo faced severe criticism for his administration's nursing home policies, which were linked to a high number of deaths. Investigations revealed that his administration had underreported COVID-19-related deaths in nursing homes. In late two thousand twenty, he was also embroiled in numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, leading to a report that found he had harassed at least eleven women. Following widespread calls for his resignation, Cuomo stepped down from office on August twenty-third, two thousand twenty-one.

In two thousand twenty-five, Cuomo attempted a political comeback by running for mayor of New York City. Despite leading in Democratic primary polls, he suffered a surprising defeat to Zohran Mamdani, and subsequently lost again in the general election.
