Andrew Valmon, born on January first, nineteen sixty-five, is a distinguished American former sprinter renowned for his exceptional prowess in the 400 meter event. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, he was raised in Manchester Township, New Jersey, where he honed his athletic skills at Manchester Township High School.
Valmon's collegiate journey took him to Seton Hall University, where he graduated in nineteen eighty-seven with a degree in communications. His athletic career reached remarkable heights when he earned a silver medal at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in nineteen ninety-one in Seville. The pinnacle of his achievements came in nineteen ninety-two when he secured a gold medal as part of the American 4 × 400 meter relay team at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, setting his personal best of forty-four point twenty-eight seconds that same year.
After retiring from competitive athletics, Valmon transitioned into coaching and is currently the Track and Field Head Coach at the University of Maryland, College Park. He also runs a summer camp at the university, sharing his expertise and passion for the sport with aspiring athletes. In his personal life, he is married to Meredith Rainey, who is also an accomplished Olympic runner, and he is a proud member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.
