Angélique Bernard

Angélique Bernard, born in 1972, is a distinguished politician and translator who made history as the youngest commissioner of Yukon, appointed on 12 March 2018. Her groundbreaking role marked her as the first Franco-Yukonnais to hold this esteemed position, showcasing her commitment to both her community and her country.

Originally hailing from Montreal, Bernard relocated to the Yukon in 1995 for a four-month translation internship with the territorial government. This brief stay blossomed into a lifelong dedication to the Franco-Yukonnais community, where she became an active volunteer for various non-profit organizations and began hosting a French-language community radio show in 1998.

Her leadership skills shone brightly when she served as Chair of the Association Franco-Yukonnaise from 2010 to 2017, further solidifying her influence within the community. After her tenure as commissioner, Bernard authored a book that reflects on her experiences and the significant role of the commissioner, providing insights into her journey and the responsibilities she undertook.
