Anita Mui

Anita Mui, born on October 10, 1963, was a celebrated Hong Kong singer and actress who left an indelible mark on the Cantopop music scene. Often referred to as the 'Queen of Cantopop', she was not only an idol in her homeland but also gained recognition across Asia and beyond. Her contributions to music and film earned her numerous awards and accolades, solidifying her status as a cultural icon.

Mui's career took off in the 1980s, a time when she revolutionized the gangtai style of music with her dynamic performances characterized by wild dancing and a unique femininity. Her outrageous costumes and powerful contralto vocals set her apart from her contemporaries, making her a standout figure in the entertainment industry. Her 1985 album, 'Bad Girl', achieved remarkable success, selling over four hundred thousand copies in Hong Kong and becoming the highest-selling album in the territory's history.
