Anna Eshoo

Anna A. Eshoo, born on December 13, 1942, is a distinguished American politician who dedicated over three decades of her life to public service as the U.S. representative for California's 16th congressional district. Her tenure spanned from 1993 to 2025, during which she became a prominent figure in the Democratic Party.

Throughout her career, Eshoo represented a district that evolved in its numbering, initially known as the 14th district from 1993 to 2013, and later as the 18th district from 2013 to 2023. This district, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, encompasses key cities such as Redwood City, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and Palo Alto, along with a portion of San Jose.

Notably, Eshoo made history as the only Assyrian-American and the only Armenian American woman serving in Congress during her time in office. Her unique background and perspective contributed to her advocacy and legislative efforts.

On November 21, 2023, Eshoo announced her decision not to seek re-election in 2024, marking the end of an era in her political journey.
