Anna Grodzka, born on March sixteenth, nineteen fifty-four, is a prominent Polish politician and activist known for her groundbreaking role in the political landscape of Poland. As a trans woman, she made history by being elected to the Sejm during the two thousand eleven Polish parliamentary elections, representing the left-liberal Palikot's Movement. This achievement marked her as the first openly transgender Member of Parliament in Poland and the third globally, following Georgina Beyer and Vladimir Luxuria.
Throughout her political career, Grodzka has been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and social justice. Her election was a significant milestone, as she was believed to be the only remaining transgender member of parliament until Nikki Sinclaire publicly came out in November two thousand thirteen. Grodzka's presence in the Sejm has inspired many and brought attention to the issues faced by the transgender community in Poland.
In June two thousand fourteen, she joined Poland's Green Party, seeking to further her political ambitions and environmental advocacy. However, her tenure with the party was short-lived, as she departed a year later. In two thousand nineteen, Grodzka became a member of the Polish Socialist Party (PPS), but her time there was also brief, as she left after expressing criticism towards the party's leadership.
