Anna Maria Tremonti

Anna Maria Tremonti, born on July second, nineteen fifty-seven, is a distinguished Canadian journalist known for her impactful work in radio and television. Hailing from Windsor, Ontario, she embarked on her journalism journey at the University of Windsor, contributing to the student newspaper, The Lance, and the university's radio station, CJAM. Her career has spanned various roles, including private broadcasting contracts in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and Toronto, before she joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

Throughout her tenure at the CBC, Tremonti has made significant contributions as a senior reporter for The National, earning two Gemini Awards for her excellence in journalism. She also hosted The Fifth Estate, where her work garnered a Gracie Award. From two thousand two until two thousand nineteen, she was the voice of CBC Radio One's morning news and current affairs program, The Current, before announcing her retirement at the end of her seventeenth season.

In May two thousand nineteen, Tremonti transitioned to a new role, focusing on creating and hosting podcasts for the CBC. Her first podcast, More With Anna Maria Tremonti, was launched in January two thousand twenty. In February two thousand twenty-two, she released Welcome to Paradise, an audio memoir that delves into her experiences during her earlier marriage to an abusive husband.

Beyond her professional achievements, Tremonti has also served as a CBC correspondent in Europe and was the chief CBC correspondent in the Middle East for several years.
