Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Anna Moffo

Anna Moffo, born on June twenty-seventh, nineteen thirty-two, was a celebrated American opera singer and actress, renowned for her exceptional talent and captivating presence. As one of the leading lyric-coloratura sopranos of her generation, she possessed a warm and radiant voice that showcased considerable range and agility. Her striking physical beauty earned her the affectionate nickname 'La Bellissima.'

After winning a Fulbright scholarship, Moffo moved to Italy, where she gained popularity through her performances in leading operatic roles on three RAI television productions in nineteen fifty-six. She made her American debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago on October sixteenth, nineteen fifty-seven, followed by her Metropolitan Opera debut on November fourteenth, nineteen fifty-nine. Over the course of more than seventeen seasons, she became a prominent figure at the Met.

Moffo's early recordings were made for EMI Records, but in nineteen sixty, she signed an exclusive contract with RCA Victor, continuing to record for the label until the late nineteen seventies. In the early nineteen sixties, she hosted her own show on Italian television and appeared in various operatic films, showcasing her versatility beyond singing.

In the early nineteen seventies, Moffo expanded her international acclaim to Germany through operatic performances, television appearances, and several films, all while maintaining her American operatic engagements. However, the demands of her heavy workload led to a serious vocal breakdown from which she never fully recovered. Her final performance at the Metropolitan Opera took place in nineteen eighty-three.
