Annamay Pierse, born on December fifth, nineteen eighty-three, is a distinguished former competitive swimmer who proudly represented Canada on the international stage. Throughout her career, she participated in prestigious events such as the Summer Olympics, FINA World Championships, Commonwealth Games, and Pan Pacific Championships, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

Growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, Annamay was immersed in a family of athletes, being the oldest of five sisters, all of whom pursued competitive swimming. She also has one older brother and one younger brother. Her academic journey led her to the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where she further honed her skills as a swimmer.

Specializing in breaststroke, Pierse made her mark by setting several Canadian records in both long course and short course events. Notably, she was the world record-holder in the 200-metre long course breaststroke until her record was narrowly surpassed by Rebecca Soni during the semifinals at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

On April second, two thousand eight, Annamay achieved a significant milestone by securing first place at the Canadian Olympic Trials in the 100-metre breaststroke, which earned her a spot at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. There, she finished sixth in the final of the 200-metre breaststroke and contributed to the Canadian team’s seventh-place finish in the women's 4×100-metre medley relay.
