Anneke van Giersbergen, born on March eighth, nineteen seventy-three, is a celebrated Dutch singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She gained international recognition as the lead vocalist of the rock band The Gathering from nineteen ninety-four to two thousand seven. Following her tenure with the band, she embarked on a successful solo career, initially under the name Agua de Annique, but has since embraced her own name for her projects.
A notable collaborator, Anneke has worked closely with Arjen Anthony Lucassen, contributing her talents to his acclaimed albums, including Into the Electric Castle, 01011001, and The Theater Equation through his project Ayreon. In two thousand fourteen, they joined forces for The Gentle Storm, culminating in the release of their album The Diary in two thousand fifteen.
In two thousand sixteen, she formed a new band, VUUR, alongside members from The Gentle Storm's live band and her solo ensemble, focusing on a heavier musical direction.
