Anni Friesinger-Postma, born on January 11, 1977, is a distinguished former speed skater from Germany. Hailing from a family deeply rooted in the sport, her father Georg Friesinger and mother Janina Korowicka were both accomplished skaters, with Jana representing Poland at the 1976 Winter Olympics. Anni's passion for speed skating was further nurtured by her siblings, including her brother Jan and sister Agnes, both of whom also pursued careers in the sport.
After a successful career, Anni made the difficult decision to retire in July 2010 due to severe cartilage damage in her right knee joint. Her contributions to speed skating have left a lasting impact, and her journey through the sport has been both inspiring and challenging.
On August 11, 2009, Anni married her long-term partner, former Dutch skater Ids Postma, in a beautiful ceremony at Schloss Mirabell, followed by a celebration at Schloss Aigen. As of November 2013, she resides in Salzburg, Austria, with plans to relocate to the Netherlands to join Postma on his farm in Dearsum.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Anni embraced motherhood, welcoming her first daughter in August 2011 and a second daughter in May 2014. Her life continues to evolve as she balances family and her legacy in the world of speed skating.
