Annie Kenney

Annie Kenney, born on September thirteenth, eighteen seventy-nine, emerged as a prominent figure in the suffragette movement in England. As a working-class socialist feminist, she played a pivotal role in advocating for women's rights and suffrage. Kenney co-founded the first branch of the Women's Social and Political Union in London alongside Minnie Baldock, marking a significant step in the organized fight for women's equality.

Her activism gained national attention in nineteen oh five when she and fellow suffragette Christabel Pankhurst were imprisoned for several days. This incident occurred during a Liberal rally in Manchester, where they confronted Sir Edward Grey regarding the pressing issue of votes for women.
