Anouk Leblanc-Boucher

Anouk Leblanc-Boucher, born on October 21, 1984, is a distinguished Canadian short-track speed skater who made her mark at the 2006 Winter Olympics. While pursuing her studies in ecology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, she showcased her athletic prowess by clinching a bronze medal in the 500m event on February 15, 2006, finishing with an impressive time of 0:44.759, ahead of fellow Canadian Kalyna Roberge.

Her Olympic journey continued on February 22, when she contributed to Canada's success in the women's 3000m relay, earning a silver medal alongside teammates Alanna Kraus, Tania Vicent, Amanda Overland, and Kalyna Roberge. This remarkable achievement solidified her status as a key figure in Canadian short-track speed skating.

In 2006, shortly after her Olympic success, Leblanc-Boucher announced her pregnancy and welcomed her first child, William, in late June 2007. She later expanded her family with two more children, Ben and Stella. Although she aimed to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics in her home country, she was unable to qualify.

In February 2014, Leblanc-Boucher made headlines when she listed her Olympic silver medal and the skates she wore during the 2006 Winter Olympics for sale on Kijiji, seeking financial support for her return to the sport. Inspired by the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia, she expressed a desire to compete again, setting her asking price at one million dollars for the medal and seven thousand dollars for the skates, excluding her individual bronze medal. Fortunately, her advertisement attracted sponsorship offers, allowing her to focus on training for a comeback at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Now, with renewed determination, Leblanc-Boucher is preparing to resume her training and return to competition, aiming for success in the upcoming Olympic season.
