Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Antanas Mockus

Antanas Mockus, born on March twenty-fifth, nineteen fifty-two, is a distinguished Colombian mathematician, philosopher, and politician. He holds a master's degree in philosophy from the National University of Colombia and an Honoris Causa PhD from the University of Paris. As the son of Lithuanian immigrants, Mockus has a rich cultural heritage that informs his diverse career.

In nineteen ninety-three, he stepped down as president of the National University of Colombia in Bogotá to embark on a political journey, successfully campaigning for the mayoralty later that year. His tenure as mayor was marked by innovative and often humorous initiatives that captivated the city's residents. Notable actions included taking a shower in a commercial to promote water conservation and donning a spandex costume as 'Supercitizen' while walking the streets.

Mockus's political aspirations continued when he was elected as the Colombian Green Party candidate for the presidential election in two thousand ten. Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease shortly after his candidacy announcement, he remained optimistic about his mental capabilities. He finished second in the election, leading to a runoff against Juan Manuel Santos, who ultimately won.

In June two thousand eleven, Mockus resigned from the Green Party due to disagreements over its support for a candidate linked to former President Álvaro Uribe. His political journey took another turn when he became a Senator of the Republic of Colombia in July two thousand eighteen, following a strong showing in the legislative elections. Additionally, he serves as the president of the Corporación Visionarios por Colombia, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering voluntary changes in collective behavior.
