Anthony Foxx

Anthony Foxx, born on April thirtieth, nineteen seventy-one, is a distinguished American lawyer and politician. He made history as the youngest individual to serve as the Mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina, from two thousand nine to two thousand thirteen, and was the second African American to hold this esteemed position. His political journey began when he was first elected to the Charlotte City Council in two thousand five.

In April two thousand thirteen, Foxx was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as the United States Secretary of Transportation. His confirmation in June of the same year was unanimous, with a vote of one hundred to zero, marking a significant milestone in his career. Upon taking office, he became the youngest Cabinet secretary at that time, further solidifying his reputation as a trailblazer in American politics.

After his tenure as Secretary of Transportation, which lasted until two thousand seventeen, Foxx transitioned to the private sector, joining rideshare company Lyft as chief policy officer in two thousand eighteen. He continued to influence the industry until he stepped down from that role in October two thousand twenty-one, although he remains an advisor to the company.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Foxx is actively involved in academia, currently serving as the chair of the Board of Trustees at Davidson College, where he contributes to shaping the future of education.
