Anthony W. England

Anthony W. England, born on May fifteenth, nineteen forty-two, is a distinguished American former NASA astronaut, engineer, chemist, and university educator. Selected as an astronaut in nineteen sixty-seven, he was part of a talented group that served as backups during the Apollo and Skylab programs. His career reached new heights when he flew as a mission specialist on STS-51-F in nineteen eighty-five, contributing to the Space Shuttle program.

Throughout his career, England has amassed over four thousand hours of flying time, including one hundred eighty-eight hours spent in the vastness of space. His expertise was instrumental in the development and application of radars used to probe the Moon during Apollo 17, as well as glaciers in Washington and Alaska. His scientific endeavors extended to Antarctica, where he participated in and led field parties during two seasons.

In addition to his remarkable achievements as an astronaut, England served as the dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan–Dearborn, shaping the next generation of engineers and scientists.
