Antoine Dufour, born on January first, nineteen seventy-nine, is a celebrated Canadian acoustic guitarist and composer, currently signed to CandyRat Records. His musical journey began at the age of fifteen when he picked up the guitar, leading him to study at the CEGEP in Joliette. There, he was introduced to the works of renowned musicians such as Leo Kottke, Don Ross, and Michael Hedges, thanks to the guidance of his teacher.
Dufour's talent was recognized early on, as he achieved remarkable success in guitar competitions. He placed second in the Fingerstyle Guitar Championship at the Canadian Guitar Festival in two thousand five and claimed first place in the following year. Additionally, he secured third place at the International Finger Style Guitar Championship in Winfield, Kansas, competing against some of the best in the field.
To date, Dufour has released five solo albums: Naissance, Development, Existence, Convergences, and Sound Pictures. His engaging performances have attracted a substantial following on YouTube, where he shares live renditions of his music, often collaborating with fellow guitarist Andy McKee and other CandyRat artists. One of his most popular videos features a captivating cover of 'Jerry's Breakdown,' performed alongside expert fiddler Tommy Gauthier, showcasing their remarkable synergy with a single guitar.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Dufour is dedicated to sharing his passion for guitar as an instructor. He offers lessons through Skype, allowing him to connect with aspiring musicians from around the world.
