Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Anutin Charnvirakul

Anutin Charnvirakul, born on September 13, 1966, in Bangkok, is a prominent Thai politician and businessman. He has held the esteemed position of the 32nd prime minister of Thailand since September 2025. As the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party since 2012, Anutin has been a significant figure in Thai politics, serving as a member of the House of Representatives since 2019.

Raised in a wealthy family, Anutin pursued higher education at Hofstra University and Thammasat University. He initially took the helm of his family's construction firm, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction (STECON), before venturing into politics. His political journey began with the Thai Rak Thai Party in 1996, where he served as deputy minister of commerce and deputy minister of public health under Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

After a five-year political ban, Anutin returned to the political arena by leading the Bhumjaithai Party, succeeding his father, Chavarat Charnvirakul. During the second term of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, he held the roles of deputy prime minister and minister of public health, notably overseeing Thailand's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the decriminalization of cannabis in 2022. From 2023 to 2025, he served as the minister of interior under the premierships of Srettha Thavisin and Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

Anutin's ascent to the premiership came amid significant political upheaval in 2025. Following a border crisis with Cambodia, the Bhumjaithai Party withdrew from the governing coalition. After the Constitutional Court removed Prime Minister Paetongtarn from office in August, Anutin secured an agreement with the People's Party and was elected prime minister by the National Assembly on September 5, 2025. His government was tasked with drafting a new constitution, and on September 7, King Vajiralongkorn officially endorsed his appointment. On December 12, 2025, he called for a snap general election after dissolving the House of Representatives, leading his party to a strong performance in the 2026 election, where they won nearly two hundred seats.
