Ardashir II

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Ardashir II

Ardashir II, born in the year three hundred fifteen, was a notable sovereign of Iran who ruled from three hundred seventy-nine to three hundred eighty-three. He was the brother of Shapur II, the previous ruler, under whom he had served as the vassal king of Adiabene. During his tenure in this role, he fought alongside his brother against the Romans, showcasing his commitment to the Sasanian cause.

Upon the death of Shapur II, Ardashir II was appointed as the interim ruler until his nephew, Shapur III, reached adulthood. His reign, although brief, was marked by attempts to maintain Sasanian control over Armenia, a task that ultimately proved unsuccessful. This period was largely uneventful in terms of significant achievements or conflicts.

Ardashir II is often remembered for his strong-willed character, earning him the epithet 'nihoukar,' which translates to 'the beneficent.' This title reflects the perception of his leadership style and the impact he had during his short time on the throne.
