Ariane Fortin, born on November twentieth, nineteen eighty-four, is a distinguished Canadian amateur boxer known for her southpaw stance. With a remarkable career, she has earned the title of two-time World Boxing Champion, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.
Fortin's journey in boxing began in two thousand four, and by two thousand five, she had already made her mark by winning a silver medal at the World Championships. Her prowess continued to shine as she clinched gold at the World Championships in two thousand six in New Delhi and repeated this success in two thousand eight in Ningbo, China.
In preparation for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the World Championship, Fortin successfully launched a crowdfunding campaign on MAKEACHAMP, demonstrating her resourcefulness and determination. That same year, she competed in the World Championships in South Korea, where she secured a bronze medal, facing her only loss in the semifinals against the reigning Olympic champion, Claressa Shields.
Despite a setback in her quest to qualify for the 2012 Summer Olympics, which was documented in the film Last Women Standing, Fortin's resilience led her to be named to Canada's Olympic team in July two thousand sixteen. Unfortunately, her Olympic journey ended in a controversial split decision during her first bout.
