Arlette Fortin

Arlette Fortin, born on January first, nineteen forty-nine, was a distinguished Canadian writer hailing from Jonquière, Quebec. She was the daughter of René Fortin and Mariette Huot, and her literary journey began with her debut novel, C'est la faute au bonheur, which earned her the prestigious Prix Robert-Cliche in two thousand one.

Following her initial success, Fortin continued to captivate readers with her subsequent works, including La vie est une virgule in two thousand seven and Clara Tremblay chesseldéenne in two thousand ten. In addition to her novels, she made significant contributions to various literary revues, notably Poésie de Québec, showcasing her versatility and passion for the written word.

In her personal life, Fortin was married to Jocelyn Belley and resided in Lévis, where she left a lasting legacy. Tragically, she passed away at the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec at the age of sixty. In recognition of her contributions to literature, Rue Arlette-Fortin in Lévis was named in her honor, ensuring that her memory and impact on Canadian literature endure.
