Arnaut Daniel

Arnaut Daniel, born in the year eleven fifty, was a distinguished troubadour of the twelfth century, celebrated for his exceptional contributions to poetry and music. His artistry earned him the admiration of notable figures such as Dante, who referred to him as 'the better craftsman' or 'miglior fabbro,' highlighting his mastery in the craft of verse.

Daniel's influence extended beyond his time, as he was revered by Petrarch, who honored him with the title of 'grand master of love' or 'gran maestro d'amore.' This recognition underscores the profound impact of his work on the themes of love and romance, which were central to the troubadour tradition.

In the twentieth century, the poet Ezra Pound further elevated Daniel's status, proclaiming him the greatest poet to have ever lived in his seminal work, The Spirit of Romance, published in nineteen ten.
