Arnold J. Toynbee

Arnold J. Toynbee, born on April 14, 1889, was a prominent English historian and philosopher of history, renowned for his extensive contributions to the field of international affairs. From 1918 to 1950, Toynbee emerged as a leading authority on international relations, significantly influencing the discourse of his time. His tenure as the Director of Studies at Chatham House from 1929 to 1956 was particularly noteworthy, during which he produced thirty-four volumes of the Survey of International Affairs, a seminal work that became a cornerstone for international specialists in Britain.
