Ashleigh Barty

Ashleigh Barty, born on April 24, 1996, is a distinguished Australian former professional tennis player and cricketer. She achieved remarkable success in her tennis career, being ranked as the world No. 1 in women's singles by the Women's Tennis Association for an impressive one hundred twenty-one weeks. In addition to her singles success, she also reached a career-high ranking of world No. 5 in doubles.

Barty's accolades include twelve WTA Tour-level singles titles, with three major championships to her name: the 2019 French Open, the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, and the 2022 Australian Open. She also triumphed in the 2019 WTA Finals and secured twelve doubles titles, including a major victory at the 2018 US Open alongside CoCo Vandeweghe.

As a junior, Barty was a force to be reckoned with, achieving the rank of junior world No. 2 and winning the Wimbledon girls' singles title in 2011. After a successful start to her professional career, she took an indefinite break from tennis in 2014 to pursue cricket, signing with the Brisbane Heat for the inaugural Women's Big Bash League season despite lacking formal training in the sport.

Returning to tennis in 2016, Barty had a breakthrough year in 2017, winning her first WTA Tour title at the Malaysian Open and climbing to No. 17 in the world.
