Ashley Young

Ashley Young, born on July 9, 1985, is an accomplished English professional footballer known for his versatility on the pitch, playing as a winger, midfielder, or full-back. Currently, he represents EFL Championship club Ipswich Town and has also made a name for himself as a guest pundit for Sky Sports during the Premier League since the 2025–26 season.

Young's football journey began at Watford, where he made his senior debut in 2003 under the guidance of manager Ray Lewington. He quickly established himself as a key player, particularly during the 2005–06 season, which saw Watford achieve promotion. His impressive performances caught the attention of larger clubs, leading to a transfer to Aston Villa in January 2007 for an initial fee of eight million pounds.

At Aston Villa, Young's talent flourished, culminating in him winning the PFA Young Player of the Year award in 2009. His career took another significant turn in June 2011 when he signed with Manchester United for approximately seventeen million pounds. During his time at United, he secured five major trophies, including the Premier League title in 2013 and the FA Cup in 2016, and was appointed club captain in 2019.

In 2020, Young made a move to Inter Milan, where he celebrated winning the Serie A title, becoming only the third Englishman to achieve this feat. He returned to Aston Villa in 2021, contributing to a commendable seventh-place finish in his second season before signing with Everton in 2023. After being released by Everton, he joined Ipswich Town in 2025 on a one-year deal.

On the international stage, Young earned thirty-nine caps for the England national team between 2007 and 2018, scoring seven goals. He was part of the squads for UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where England reached the semi-finals.
