Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Aslan Maskhadov

Aslan Maskhadov, born on September twenty-first, nineteen fifty-one, was a prominent Soviet and Chechen politician and military commander. He is best known for his role as the third president of the unrecognized Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, a position he assumed after being elected in January nineteen ninety-seven.

Maskhadov played a crucial role in the Chechen victory during the First Chechen War, which led to the establishment of a de facto independent Chechen Republic. His leadership during this tumultuous period earned him significant recognition and respect among his supporters.

However, the onset of the Second Chechen War in August nineteen ninety-nine marked a turning point in his life. Maskhadov returned to lead the guerrilla resistance against the Russian army, continuing to fight for Chechen independence even as the de facto Ichkeria ceased to exist at the beginning of two thousand.

Until his death on March eighth, two thousand five, Maskhadov remained President in exile, symbolizing the ongoing struggle for Chechen autonomy. He was tragically killed in Tolstoy-Yurt, a village in northern Chechnya, leaving behind a complex legacy of resistance and leadership.
