Atifete Jahjaga

Atifete Jahjaga, born on April twentieth, nineteen seventy-five, is a distinguished Kosovar Albanian politician and former police officer. She made history by serving as the President of Kosovo from two thousand eleven to two thousand sixteen, becoming the first woman and the first non-partisan candidate to hold this esteemed office. Her election marked a significant milestone in the political landscape of Kosovo.

Before ascending to the presidency, Jahjaga had a notable career in law enforcement. She served as the Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police, where she achieved the rank of General Lieutenant Colonel. This rank is particularly significant as it represents the highest position attained by a female officer in Southeastern Europe, showcasing her dedication and leadership in a traditionally male-dominated field.
