Atropates

Atropates, born in three hundred seventy BC, was a distinguished Persian nobleman whose political acumen and military prowess allowed him to navigate the tumultuous waters of ancient empires. Initially serving under Darius III, he demonstrated loyalty and skill during a period marked by significant upheaval.

Following the fall of the Achaemenid Empire, Atropates transitioned to serve Alexander the Great. His ability to adapt to changing allegiances showcased his strategic mind and resilience in the face of adversity.

Ultimately, Atropates established an independent kingdom, laying the foundation for a dynasty that would bear his name. His legacy is noted by ancient historians, with Diodorus referring to him as Atrápēs, while Quintus Curtius mistakenly called him 'Arsaces'.
