Their partnership began in two thousand two with the musical project Tapeworm, setting the stage for a prolific creative journey.

In two thousand five, Ross joined Reznor's influential band Nine Inch Nails, initially taking on the roles of programmer and producer. By two thousand sixteen, he had solidified his position as the only official member of the band apart from Reznor, showcasing his integral role in the group's evolution and sound.

Beyond his work with Nine Inch Nails, Ross has gained acclaim for his film scoring endeavors alongside Reznor. Their collaboration on the score for The Social Network earned them the Academy Award for Best Original Score in two thousand ten.
