Aubert Côté

Aubert Côté, born on March 22, 1880, in Montreal, was a remarkable Canadian amateur wrestler who made history in the world of sports. Competing in the 1908 Summer Olympics, he showcased his exceptional talent in the freestyle bantamweight category.

During the Olympic Games, Côté achieved a significant milestone by winning the bronze medal, marking him as the first Canadian to earn an Olympic medal in wrestling. His journey to the podium began with a victory over Frank Davis of Great Britain in the first round, demonstrating his skill and determination.

Despite a valiant effort, Côté faced a setback against the eventual gold medalist, George Mehnert from the United States. However, he rebounded impressively by defeating Frederick Tomkins from Great Britain, securing his place in Olympic history with a well-deserved bronze medal.
