Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Augustine Colin Macdonald

Augustine Colin Macdonald, born on June thirtieth, eighteen thirty-seven, was a prominent Canadian merchant and political figure. Hailing from Panmure Island, he was the son of Hugh Macdonald, a Scottish immigrant. His education took place in Georgetown and Charlottetown, where he laid the foundation for a career that would see him serve his community and country.

Macdonald's political journey began in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island, where he represented 3rd Kings from eighteen seventy to eighteen seventy-three. He resigned his seat to pursue a federal position, successfully representing King's County and later King's in the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal-Conservative member during several terms from eighteen seventy-three to eighteen hundred. His dedication to public service culminated in his appointment as the tenth Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, a role he held from June second, nineteen fifteen, until his death in nineteen nineteen.

In addition to his political career, Macdonald was a captain in the militia and married Mary Elizabeth, the daughter of John Small MacDonald, in eighteen sixty-five. His family legacy continued through his brothers, with Andrew Archibald serving in the Senate of Canada and also as a Lieutenant Governor, while Archibald John was a long-time member of the provincial assembly.
