Over the course of his career, he played in two hundred twenty-six games, showcasing his skills with teams such as the Chicago Black Hawks, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Oakland Seals.

Joining the Boston Bruins in the nineteen fifty-nine to sixty season, Erickson wore the number eleven jersey. He quickly established himself as a reliable and robust defenseman, known for his steady and dependable play. His two full seasons in Boston solidified his reputation as a rugged-minded blueliner.

In May nineteen sixty-five, Erickson was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs as part of a significant deal that included several players. He played a crucial role in the Maple Leafs' journey to the Stanley Cup Finals in nineteen sixty-seven, although he did not participate in any regular season games that year, appearing in only three playoff games. His contributions were instrumental in the team's success, culminating in a Stanley Cup victory.

Later in his career, Erickson became an original member of the expansion Oakland Seals, further adding to his legacy in the sport. Sadly, he passed away in August twenty-ten after a long battle with cancer, leaving behind a rich history in ice hockey.
