Avi Lewis

Avi Lewis, born on January first, nineteen sixty-eight, is a prominent Canadian politician and filmmaker, currently serving as the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) since March twenty twenty-six. Raised in a politically active family, Lewis has always been deeply engaged in social issues, which has shaped his career in both media and politics.

Before stepping into the political arena, Lewis made a name for himself in broadcasting. He hosted several influential programs across major networks such as Citytv, CBC News, and Al Jazeera English. His notable shows include The NewMusic, CounterSpin, On the Map with Avi Lewis, The Big Picture with Avi Lewis, and Fault Lines. His work in journalism has been complemented by his collaboration with his wife, Naomi Klein, on impactful documentaries like The Take and This Changes Everything.

In addition to his media career, Lewis has contributed to academia as an associate professor at the University of British Columbia and as a lecturer at Rutgers University.
