Avvakum

Avvakum, born on November twentieth in the year sixteen twenty, was a prominent figure in the Russian Orthodox Church, known for his unwavering commitment to the Old Believer faith. As a protopope of the Kazan Cathedral located in the heart of Red Square, he became a leading voice against the sweeping reforms introduced by Patriarch Nikon, which sought to modernize the church's practices.
