Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Axl Rose

W. Axl Rose, born William Bruce Rose Jr. on February 6, 1962, in Lafayette, Indiana, is an iconic American vocalist and songwriter, celebrated as the lead singer and lyricist of the legendary hard rock band Guns N' Roses. Since the band's inception in 1985, Rose has remained its sole constant member, captivating audiences with his powerful and wide-ranging voice, earning accolades as one of the greatest singers of all time from esteemed publications like Rolling Stone, NME, and Billboard.

In the early 1980s, Rose relocated to Los Angeles, where he joined various bands, including Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns, before co-founding Guns N' Roses. The band's debut album, Appetite for Destruction, released in 1987, became a monumental success, selling over thirty million copies globally and securing its place as the best-selling U.S. debut album. Rose's tumultuous relationships, particularly with Erin Everly and Stephanie Seymour, inspired several of the band's hits, including the chart-topping classic 'Sweet Child o' Mine'. However, the band faced criticism for its controversial lyrics and allegations of abuse surrounding the follow-up album, G N' R Lies.

The twin albums Use Your Illusion I and II, released in 1991, debuted at No. 2 and No. 1 on the Billboard 200, collectively selling thirty-five million copies. Rose's unpredictable behavior during the Use Your Illusion Tour, marked by riots, media outbursts, and feuds with contemporaries like Metallica and Nirvana, further fueled his controversial reputation. The subsequent album, 'The Spaghetti Incident?', released in 1993, did not achieve the same level of success and faced backlash for including a cover of a Charles Manson song.

After a period of relative silence, Rose reemerged in 2001 with a reformed Guns N' Roses, culminating in the release of Chinese Democracy in 2008, which became known as the most expensive rock album ever produced. In 2012, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but chose not to attend the ceremony. A significant turning point came in 2016 when he reconciled with former bandmates Slash and Duff McKagan for the record-breaking Not in This Lifetime... Tour, and also filled in as a vocalist for AC/DC on several shows. Guns N' Roses continues to tour and release new music into the 2020s.
