Ayanna Pressley, born on February third, nineteen seventy-four, is a prominent American politician who has made significant strides in her career. Since two thousand nineteen, she has proudly represented Massachusetts's seventh congressional district, which encompasses the northern three-quarters of Boston, most of Cambridge, and parts of Milton, along with all of Chelsea, Everett, Randolph, and Somerville.
Before her tenure in Congress, Pressley served as an at-large member of the Boston City Council from two thousand ten to two thousand nineteen. Her election to the United States House of Representatives in two thousand eighteen was historic; she defeated the ten-term incumbent Mike Capuano in the Democratic primary and subsequently ran unopposed in the general election.
Pressley holds the distinction of being the first black woman elected to the Boston City Council and the first black woman to represent Massachusetts in Congress. As a member of 'The Squad,' an informal coalition of progressive Congress members, she continues to advocate for policies that reflect her commitment to social justice and equity.
