Azizulhasni Awang

Azizulhasni Awang, born on January fifth, nineteen eighty-eight, is a distinguished Malaysian professional track cyclist currently residing in Melbourne, Australia. Known affectionately as 'The Pocket Rocketman' due to his compact stature, he has made history as the first and only Malaysian cyclist to secure a medal at the Summer Olympics.

His Olympic journey began in two thousand eight when he proudly served as Team Malaysia's national flag bearer during the Parade of Nations. Azizulhasni achieved his first World Championship medal in two thousand nine, earning a silver in the individual sprint, showcasing his exceptional talent on the global stage.

Azizulhasni's Olympic accolades include a bronze medal in the individual keirin at the two thousand sixteen Summer Olympics, followed by a silver medal in the same event at the two thousand twenty Tokyo Olympics. His remarkable achievements continued in two thousand seventeen when he clinched his first World Championship title in the keirin, becoming the first Malaysian to don the prestigious rainbow jersey.

As he prepared for the two thousand twenty-four Paris Olympics, Azizulhasni faced a setback when he was disqualified in the Men's keirin qualifier for cycling ahead of the derny motorbike. National track head coach John Beasley described the incident as a monumental mistake, emphasizing the clarity of the rules and the circumstances surrounding the disqualification.
