Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., known to the world as B.o.B, was born on November 15, 1988, in Decatur, Georgia. He embarked on his musical journey by signing with Jim Jonsin's Rebel Rock Entertainment in 2006, and two years later, he secured a joint venture with T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records, an imprint of Atlantic Records. B.o.B quickly rose to fame with his chart-topping single, 'Nothin' on You,' featuring Bruno Mars, which dominated the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and earned him three Grammy nominations.
In 2010, B.o.B released his debut studio album, 'The Adventures of Bobby Ray,' which showcased his unique blend of alternative hip hop, pop rap, and rock. The album not only peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 but also achieved double platinum certification from the RIAA. His follow-up singles, 'Airplanes' featuring Hayley Williams and 'Magic' featuring Rivers Cuomo, further solidified his status in the music industry, with both tracks reaching impressive positions on the Billboard Hot 100.
As his career progressed, B.o.B continued to explore diverse musical styles. His 2011 single 'Strange Clouds,' featuring Lil Wayne, marked another top-ten hit, leading to the release of his second studio album. However, his third album, 'Underground Luxury,' released in 2013, saw a shift in tone and received mixed reviews. Despite this, he collaborated with various artists, including Ty Dolla Sign and T-Pain, contributing to several platinum-certified singles.
In 2015, feeling unfulfilled by his label's promotion, B.o.B released his twelfth mixtape, 'Psycadelik Thoughtz,' marking a turning point in his career. He later launched his own label, No Genre, and released the compilation album 'Elements' in 2016, which tackled political themes and conspiracy theories. His fourth album, 'Ether,' released in 2017, was his first independent project and received critical acclaim, showcasing his evolution as an artist and his growing discontent with the mainstream music industry.
